What was happening here? She had to know as she searches desperately trying to find the history of the house and a possible clue to what was happening. What she finds out fills her being with fear. As the story progresses it becomes more intense as the presence in the house brings death and the near loss of her husband. Will they make it out of this house alive? Wow! What a ride.
This work is a real page turner as you sit glued to your seat unable to put it down. Heart thumping, you have to know what secret is within the walls of the Bender house; and you silently pray that Julie will be able to battle the forces that hold her husbands life and their future in their hands.
Horror fans will love this one. Recommended.
Shirley Johnson - Midwest Book Review
When David leaves Julie in St. Joe while he ties up loose ends back east, the ghost kicks into high gear. This story will have you hiding under the covers as eerie voices, giggles, scraping shovels, turning doorknobs, creaky stairways and much more are used effectively by Wise to build tension to a high pitch. In my book, this one ranks with another classic goose-bumper, The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.
With the setting in St. Joseph, Touches gains an immediacy that makes the horrible events even more frightening. Who doesnt know the spooky feeling of being in an old creaky house or driving through a tree-shaded neighborhood rich with yarns of a haunted past? They are all around us here.
Touches has something for a variety of readers. Those who are intrigued with local history, or who love a good mystery or spooky story will find this book entertaining. Just keep the lights on!
